My Aleph P 1.7 clone has four inputs (XLR/RCA) one output and a tape loop. The sixteen relays for the volume control are driven by a simple 8 bit counter. All relays, including the six in-/output relays are powered by a separate PSU. Input/output and selection boards are milled. The output is delayed by about 5 sec. when the amp is switch on. Input relays are switched by a simple circuit to make sure that the new selection is switched on before the former is switched off. Dimensions are: 45cm W x 30cm D x 12cm H.

The "sound" is simply marvelous, neutral, detailed, three-dimensional, powerful, noiseless… whereby I prefer the balanced over the unbalanced connection in conjunction with my Aleph 2 clone, there is even more silence in the music, as you know what I mean.

Many thanks to Nelson Pass and his crew for sharing their enormous intellectual capital and all the commitment to us DIYer around the globe.
